Berry Beanie
Here is a Blueberry Baby Beanie (say that fast three times) that I also made for Baby Ropelato. I think its pretty great ;) I hope it fits!
Blankie #1
Here is the first big item that I finished - a baby blankie for our dear friends Jared and Sarah + new baby. My favorite part was weaving the satin ribbon along the edges and making the bows. The pattern called for putting buttons on the corners - and I found some really cool blue-green swirly buttons - but someone mentioned them being a choking hazard - so I opted for the bows, which I sewed down.
I had a lot of fun designing the gift tag too. I wish I had more doo-dads to decorate it with. I also wanted to attach the 'care' directions on the backside. Didn't get that far, but maybe for the next project/gift!
Summer Break - Week 1
This week has been AWESOME - mostly because I have been able to sleep in every day. But, there have been a few things accomplished as well.......
MONDAY - There was a monster storm that rolled through town. High winds, rain, thunder - and for a few brief moments - Ang, Sarah and I were very afraid that the power may go out and we would miss the next episode of The Bachelorette. But thankfully that did not happen.
TUESDAY - Lots of chores today, but a fun one was making bread! Mary G. is a pretty fantastic cook so I called her for a bread recipe and experimented with another one from the bread machine manual. Both turned out tasty, one a little denser than the other.
WEDNESDAY - J and I went to the Moon to visit with Kt and Lindsey and several other lovely ladies. We drank and ate and laughed, and watched some basketball I think.
THURSDAY - I had a training all day downtown with the BSD to get trained to be a trainer of other teachers in all things PLC / Prof. Development. It was interesting...and I made some $$. In the evening we watched THOR - which I thought would be really really stupid, but turned out to be pretty darn entertaining.
FRIDAY - We went fishin' at Lucky Peak today. The weather was great, sunny with a slightly breeze. We caught one kokanne and saw a Peregrine falcon family. WAY COOL. Here is a bad camera phone pic:
In the evening we had Amanda over for elk steaks, potatoes, asparagus and homebrew. It was nice visiting ;)
SATURDAY - We helped our friend Micah move his life's possessions to a different location. Time for a re-do in his world. It was pouring rain when we left our house to meet him and as we pulled up to his driveway to start loading, the clouds parted and the Sun started shining. Huh. Afterwards, we went to two new-ish breweries in town Payette Brewing Co. and Crooked Fence. Both delicious experiences and enjoyable spaces. Micah bought us dinner from P.F.Changs!!!!!!!!!!!! and we ate in the parking lot of the Dutch Goose before going to to play a few rounds of Foosball - on the Tornado table of course. P.S. Jason is a Foosball master.

Back at our place Micah helped teach me some uber-cool new tricks with my camera. Then we 'called' our friends Ang and Jaspur in Montana on Google + and 'hung-out' with them. It was so cool! We love those guys and they were good and goofy for us as they had been celebrating Ang's b-day that evening. Here are a couple pics - again poor quality - but hilarious:
We managed to squeeze in a late night 'hangout' with Jared and Sarah in Cali too. Their life is about to CRAZY as they are days away from bringing home a new baby! xoxox
SUNDAY - Jason went fishing again and I got some errands done. A few more little chores around the house (plus the million other little chores all week long - which feel good to get done) and a little crocheting wrapped up the day. When J got home we had a fresh Kokanee salmon dinner and delicious brown rice. num num num.We kept our eyes peeled open just long enough to catch the season finale of Mad Men.
It was one lovely week.

The Planets really DO revolve around the Sun!
This glorious event will never happen again in our lifetime.....so here are some pictures for our memories......Venus is moving between the Earth and the Sun - so that we may see it transiting across the face of the Sun.
Venus is the large black dot in the upper left corner.
These pics are about 15 minutes apart.
The smaller black dots are sunspots.
A few weeks ago there was an Annular Solar Eclipse visible from here in Boise and I was able to pass along ~275 pairs of solar viewing glasses. I encouraged everyone to save them to be able view today's event as well, but unfortunately it is very cloudy / rainy here today. ; ( YEA - for other nerdy people around the world posting their live feeds.
Here are a few pics that I took of the Solar eclipse on May 20th:

Everyday is Saturday
Today is Monday, but it's hard to tell in my world. It's 9am and I just woke up. Yes, I woke up at 5:30 to the birds squawking, at 6:30 to Ruby licking my toes, and again at 7:30 as Jason left the house to go to football. But each time I rolled over......and dozed back to sleep. Until finally Booger came and curled up on my chest. Sleep time is now over. ;) Sipping a little coffee, got some laundry started before it too hot outside, and thinking about 'the list' I started yesterday of all things I'd like to accomplish over the next week to 3 months. It will certainly be added too. But, the thrill of crossing things off a list is one that I enjoy very much.

Fresh Start - First Day of Summer Break
It's time get back in the saddle and give this mom/dad thing a try again. We had a bit of a set back over the winter - but life is full challenges and how you deal with them determines the energy that flows into and out of your world. Jason and I both have gone through a period of healing the last 5 months and we are excited and happy to be living this wonderful life of ours. Especially now that it's summer break!!!! This will be Summer #2 of no school and no work......oh what adventures we will have!
BTW - no nugget news to report yet - so stay calm.
